SEA offers a variety of free or low-cost activities to explore and better understand our island’s environment. Residents and visitors are welcome! SEA strives to provide knowledgeable guides for such activities as shore walks or hikes to better understand our native flora and fauna; visits to the endangered bird rehabilitation program; organic farm visits; star-gazing; and snorkeling trips, to name just a few. Going Batty for Halloween!

 Friday, October 28 at Barren Spot Bat Tower 5:30 – 7:30 –  Learn all about the bats on St. Croix, see Cave Bats (Brachyphyllum cavernarum) emerge from their well tower roost, and learn what you can do to help these valuable pollinators and mosquito eaters! Wear sturdy shoes and long pants to protect from insects. Free for SEA members, children, $10 for non-members Call (340) 773-1989 or email for information. Costumes encouraged!

Directions to the Bat Tower: Go west from Barren Spot Mall on Centerline Rd. (Rt. 70) then straight onto Rt. 709 at the first sharp curve. The entrance to the Bat Tower is on the right just past the New Life Retirement Center. We’ll put up some signs and make it as obvious as we can.
