The Coral Conservation Corps Summer Camp gives students between the ages 13-16 the opportunity to take an in depth look underwater at the marine world surrounding St. Croix.
Students in the Coral Conservation Corp program will increase their knowledge of St Croix’s natural ecosystems, the plants and animals that depend upon those systems and of humankind’s role in shaping our past and determining our future. Goals of the program include increasing students’ desires and skills to be stewards of our environment and give students opportunities to share their knowledge about the environment with others.
Students participate in hands-on activities, listen to presentations and discuss issues with guest speakers, create an advocacy project and participate in outdoor activities that enhance the lessons of the lab and classroom. Emphasized throughout the program is the health of St. Croix’s coral reef ecosystem and balance between the needs of an environment and its people.
In 2016, we are offering two sessions of the Coral Conservation Corps: July 11 -22, July 25 – Aug 5. For more information and to apply see the CCC Summer Application
